Ewingsdale Plant Nursery and Health Centre

Ewingsdale Plant Nursery & Health Centre

It is proposed to construct a single building envelope to enable the operation of the Facility & Nursery. The development proposal includes:

  1. A single storey timber & steel clad building 20m long x 13m wide with a covered nursery area and deck on the western side of the building, access ramp for disabled provision and a covered deck on the northern side of the proposed nursery building.
  2. Construction of an on site sewage management system to service the non resident staff and future customers including a male, female & disabled toilet for customers and a toilet & shower for staff.
  3. Construction of associated driveway, parking areas and stormwater management system

The nursery stock not contained within the covered areas will be located in the area shown on plan as the hardening off area. This area will be used to harden off plants (small to medium sized pots up to 300mL) which have been propagated from the in-ground stock area located on the southern side of the property.

The external appearance of the building is a simple design to soften the visual impact of the development. In consultation with the council heritage adviser, the development has been carefully designed as not to imitate or detract from the Ewingsdale church or hall, but blend into the existing natural landscape. These design features include a Pale Eucalypt colorbond roof and cream walls, with timber posts and balustrade. The proposed development will also be extensively landscaped.
